Now running in its 12th year, the BIG Sleep is Alabaré's flagship event and they are raising awareness, as well as much needed funds for the homeless.
The event encourages those taking part to come out and brave the cold for a wonderful cause and sleep under the stars at Salisbury Cathedral Cloisters on Friday 2nd February 2018. Bringing a bundle of warm clothes and much needed sleeping bags, fundraisers will get a brief insight of what it is like to call the streets home and simultaneously help transform the lives of those in that exact position.
Rebecca Mullen, Alabare's Fundraising and Events Manager:
"This year will see a distinct difference to the event 30 well behaved dogs are invited to keep their owners company (and warm) on this cold winter night. With Alabaré knowing first-hand the strong bond between those sleeping rough and their canine companions, we hope that the introduction of dogs this year will encourage more people than ever to come out and take part in this wonderful event. The BIG Sleep has always been one of our most well supported fundraising events and we are so excited to be welcoming dogs along this year. The generosity of the public in supporting this event never ceases to amaze us here at Alabaré and we are hoping that the February 2018 BIG Sleep will be amongst our most successful to date”.
Whilst spending the night in the stunning grounds of the cathedral along with some four-legged friends, everyone who signs-up pledges to raise a minimum of £100 to help support Alabaré’s work in caring for the most vulnerable in our local community.
