Chapters were formerly exclusively clerical bodies but after the 1999 act every cathedral chapter must now include at least two lay members.
Dean of Salisbury
Nicholas Papadopulos was installed as the 81 st Dean of Salisbury on Sunday 9 September 2018 . Before that he was a parish priest, serving for six years in the Diocese of London as Vicar of St Peter’s Eaton Square. However, he is delighted to return to Salisbury, having served previously in the Diocese , as Senior Chaplain to Bishop David Stancliffe from 2002 to 2007.
Edward is a governor of Bishop Wordsworth’s Grammar School, chairs the Trustees of the College of Matrons almshouses, and holds various other posts on behalf of Chapter. He is a Bishops’ Adviser on selection of candidates for ordination.
Robert Titley was installed in November 2015. He is responsible for the Cathedral's ‘treasures’, in particular the fabric of the building, and has oversight of both the Major Repair Programme and the Cathedral’s development plans. Robert also has responsibility for the arts programme, the Cathedral Friends and (with colleagues) the pastoral aspects of Cathedral life.
Eugenie is a former senior public servant who now works as a Non - Executive Director in the priv ate and charitable sectors. She is a non - executive adviser to the Wates Group a
For 10 years he was a member of the Council of St Paul's Cathedral until 2010. Formerly a member of the Archbshops' review of Bishop s Needs and Resources Luke is also Chairman of the National Churches Trust, and a member of the PCC of the Woodford Valley.
The Revd Canon Thomas Woodhouse has been a non - residentiary canon of Salisbury since 2009 and was elected a member of the Cathedral Chapter in May 2014. Thomas finds joy in being a member of the cathedral’s wider worshipping community; he attends Evensong in the Cathedral whenever possible and he makes the cathedral’s life a particular focus of his prayers. Thomas also serves on the Bishop’s Council, where his brief is to support the work of the Learning for Discipleship and Ministry Team.
Ceri is the Managing Director of Spire FM where he has been for over 16 years, following successful careers as both a farmer and as an Area Director with Halifax PLC.
Jane is the Chief Executive Officer of Equitas Limited, the company set up to re -insure and run off the 1992 and prior years' non -life liabilities of Lloyd's of London Syndicates. She had previously been the Finance Director since the incorporation of the Equitas Group.
Alan has spent his whole life in the Diocese, serving at the Altar in Ensbury Park, Bournemouth and then training for the ordained ministry at Salisbury and Wells Theological College in the mid eighties. He served his title in Parkstone, Poole, and then was incumbent at Bishops Cannings, All Cannings and Etchilhampton near Devizes, until moving back to Salisbury in 1998 as Parish Development Advisor until 2005.
The Chapter Clerk is the senior lay manager at Salisbury Cathedral, responsible for advising on and overseeing the execution of the strategic policies set by Chapter and the Cathedral’s senior management team. Jackie works in close partnership with the Dean of Salisbury, the Very Reverend June Osborne DL.
